Don’t Wait To Learn French In France
By
Claude Fullinfaw

Although you could wait to learn French in France, why would you want to? Waiting until you are in the country of your vacation dreams is a risky way to take a trip. Without a way to communicate properly, you have no guarantee that you will be able to find your way around the country, or even find your hotel. Sure, there are plenty of French nationals who speak and understand English, it is considered highly rude to enter the country without at least a basic understanding of the language.

Fortunately, with the introduction of the internet growing ever more popular, there is no need to wait to learn French in France. Now, you can enjoy all of the benefits of structured lesson plans from right within the comfort of your own home. You can even take French classes online that will allow you to earn college credits. Of course, if you have no other choice but to learn French in France, there are sure to be many people willing to help you along. Following are a few tips for approaching French nationals to ask for assistance in learning the language. Be Polite As with any request,

if you are trying to learn French in France, and you want to approach a native for help – ask nicely. While this may seem obvious to most, there are many people who would have the audacity to assume that they are entitled to help with the language. Not so. If you don’t have the courtesy to learn the language before you go, you may have a hard time finding anyone who will help you if you don’t remember to ask nicely.

Be Humble The French are a very proud people. If you must learn French in France, don’t shun those who are kind enough to help you. Many French nationals feel that it is a sign of disrespect to assume that they will speak to you in English if you don’t understand French. But, if you at least show them that you are making an attempt to learn to speak French, almost instantly you will find them extraordinarily helpful. If someone is kind enough to help you learn French in France, be attentive and grateful for their efforts. The better attention you pay, the more help you will receive – and the quicker you will be able to learn French in France. It is always a good idea to learn the language of the country you want to visit before you go; but if that isn’t possible, and you must learn French in France, show respect for the people of the country, and you will find that help is there when you need it.
